What is the problem?
There are 30 million vehicles on the road in the UK. Each mile a small petrol car travels releases 280 g of CO2 and for a small diesel car 190g of CO2 is released. Driving 2400 miles is the equivalent to the total carbon footprint of the average person in the developing world.

The hydrogen fuel cell was invented by Sir William Robert Grove of Swansea in 1839.

Energy from wood

To produce 1kWh of heat using electricity from the national grid will produce 500g of CO2. To produce the same amount of heat using wood will produce just 24g. Figure from International Energy Agency

Climate Change Key Stage 4

Welcome to Key Stage 4

West Wales Eco Centre is a registered Charity based in Newport Pembrokeshire.  We are concerned with the environmental and social impacts of energy use.  The main environmental impact of energy use we are concerned with is climate change.  Scientists have strong evidence that the green house gasses that we have produced are changing the world’s climate.

News about Climate Change seems to be everywhere. Rooted in science, its implications touch upon politics, money, power and personal lifestyles.  Climate Change will be a hot topic for the next 100 years.  Make sure you have the right knowledge about its impacts on Wales, to make the best decisions for you and your community
