Solar Power
We now know that light is made up of a spectrum of electromagnetic waves. Some of this we can see and some parts we can feel as warmth and some parts we can neither see or feel. There is energy in sunlight and we can use this energy to make heat or electricity.
Photovoltaics capture sunlight directly and turn it into electricity. You may have a calculator that has a very small photovoltaic panel on it. Solar thermal technology captures the heat energy from sunlight. This is usually used to heat water.
