Sea Levels

Sea level rise is caused by two things.

Water expands when it gets warmer.

As the sea warms up it also expands. This is the dominant cause of sea level rise.

Ice on the land melts and flows into the sea.

Sea Levels

When sea ice melts it does not make the sea level rise. Ice takes up more room than the water it turns into. This is because ice is less dense than water.
